Ghana Card has the potential to function as an ATM Card – ACDT

The Bank of Ghana (BoG), the National Identification Authority (NIA), and financial institutions have been encouraged by the Africa Centre for Digital Transformation (ACDT) to make sure that the Ghana Card may be used as an ATM card.

In a news release, ACDT urged all parties involved to work together to integrate the Ghana Card into financial transactions and praised the NIA for its efforts to further Ghana’s digital identification strategy.

“Millions of Ghanaians will benefit from increased financial inclusion, security, and convenience as a result of the previous government’s integration of the Ghana Card into banking and financial transactions,” the statement said.

The organization listed a number of crucial steps to do this. It emphasized how crucial it is to connect all bank accounts to the Ghana Card via a safe national database so that users can use the card to make payments, transfers, and withdrawals from ATMs.

ACDT suggested adding PIN verification and biometric authentication to ATM and POS systems in order to increase security.

It clarified that customers have to be able to use their fingerprints or a special PIN associated with their Ghana Card to confirm transactions.
